Is the theme really about a huge breakout of chickens?
Yes, you can see their chicken coops in the background, and the reels themselves contain appearances by many of the chickens. There are some neat features included that bolster the theme too, as we’ll shortly see.
A colorful and entertaining design
The first thing we noticed when the game loaded was how colorful it was. This is a superb one to look at as you play. It’s not overly bright, but there is a nice mix of colors here with a red and gold logo to look at. You get to meet five different chickens too, all dressed for action.
Reels, symbols, and other features in The Great Chicken Escape
This Pragmatic Play slot plays out over five reels. You don’t get any progressive jackpots to go for, but the game includes several good regular prizes and lots of bonus elements too.
There is a chicken wild to look for that replaces everything apart from the bonus scroll. This is a scatter. There are other wilds too, but we’ll come to those in the bonuses section of this review.

With up to 10 coins playable on each one of those 20 lines, you can set the value of each coin to between one cent and 50 cents.

Now to the bonuses
Firstly, the base game can trigger one of two special bonuses at random. The first involves Guard Dog Wilds. If this occurs, you’ll see between four and nine random wilds added to the reels. It acts as a regular wild, replacing everything apart from the bonus icon.
The second possibility also occurs randomly, where a Chicken Run Wild might appear on two, three, or four reels. These can occur on any reels and provide a full stack of wilds in each case. Again, they replace everything except the bonus.
There is a Care Package feature to look out for as well. This sees stacked golden eggs dropping onto the reel strips. Once the spin is over, the stacked eggs that are in view change into the same random symbol. The wild and bonus icons cannot be chosen.
Three or four of the bonus icons are required to trigger a random bonus round. If you get five of the bonus icons, the Big Money Bonus unlocks. This reveals 12 barrels, and each contains a money prize. What could you end up finding inside one or more of those barrels?
